@ 50 WINNERS CHAPEL PASTOR SAYS "I CAN VOUCH, MY WIFE IS A GODLY WOMAN"

I am Pastor David Ibiobamimo, the son of late Rufus Olorunfemi Ibiobamimo. My father was a member of the Cherubim & Seraphim church. My father was a Senior Apostle and my mother was a Mother-In-Israel in that same church. But now she is an elder in the Living Faith Church – Winners’ Chapel. I am married to a God-sent wife, who is a Deaconess in the Living Faith Church; and we are blessed with a Godly family.

At what point was there a turn-around in your life?

I knew Christ and gave my life to him in 1988. Then, I was still a member of Cherubim and Seraphim church. We had a youth fellowship in the church through which we go onto the mountains to pray. The youth fellowship was led by Bishop Bakare and Prophet Samson Ayorinde. I always went to the mountain with them, for about 3 years, but I was not born again. So, it was not until 31^st of December 1988, when we were on a mountain praying, that a force came over me; and I started crying. I was unable to control myself. I realized I was living a life that needed change. Right there, I made a decision to give my life to Christ and mend my ways. That was how I experienced a turn-around in my life. It was a 31^st December 1988 when I gave my life to Christ. Ever since, I have not regretted that decision.

How would you access the Christian life of Badagry people & how they are receiving the Gospel?

It is surprising that some communities still set aside some special spaces on the streets and dedicate such to idols and shrines. Going by the status of Badagry, as the cradle of civilization, and I think Badagry is a civilized place, but having shrines in open places is uncalled for. That is an indication that some of the people have not totally embraced Christ.

When someone refuses to accept Christ totally, it brings limitations to that person’s experience and destiny.

Although, Badagry people are well receptive to the Gospel, there are still some people who uphold idols and the old traditions that bring no good. But I believe spreading the Gospel can make them repent because idolatry is a practice that brings limitations and set-back to a community.

You have been to several countries in the capacity of a Minister. Could you review your experience in those societies and how they received the Gospel?

Every country has its own peculiarities. That is their nature and mode of life. I was privileged to spend some time in Benin Republic and Lusaka in Zambia. I was also privileged to be in Ethiopia in 2005. I was the National Pastor there and in Ethiopia, you will find some parents rejecting their children all because the children gave their lives to Christ.

Therefore, every country has its own attitude, but the similarity among us all is that every nation needs Christ. So, when you introduce the Gospel to them with prayers, signs and wonders, the Bible assures us that they will surely welcome it, and accept it.

What is your take on broken homes and failed marriages?

Well, I personally have no problems with my marriage because I’m married to a Godly wife.

Frankly, to have a peaceful home and successful marriage, I need to refer you to some of the principles I have learnt from my father, Bishop David Oyedepo. He has taught us over the years and my advice to upcoming couples is that marriage is about decision and understanding the Word of God. It is more about been Godly because Godliness destroys the love for material things.

What do you think of Pastors who criticize other churches to their members on the Pulpit?

It is their level of understanding. The more understanding you have, the better your character.

In fact, in the Living faith Church, we were taught, trained and even warned by Bishop David Oyedepo never to say anything negative about other churches. I think the reason is that, when you think a church is bad and you criticize it does not make it a good church. Rather it will only make it worse.

So, why don’t you face your own work with God? I have also learnt from the Winners family not to criticize. I believe criticizing churches is a bad act; My advice to those Pastors who do it is for them to face their church and God because the reward and result of their work will surely show. When it shows, you will be a living example and model to others. So, Pastors do not need to criticize other churches.

With the present state of the world, are you not tempted to say the second coming of Jesus Christ is approaching?

Yes. It is clear. All the signs are everywhere. There is no portion of the Bible that has not been fulfilled already. There are rumors, earthquakes, wars and people are being killed every day, amongst other evil practices.

I will only advice everyone that the time is shorter now than ever before. We are in the later part of the end. Let everyone clean-up, mend their ways and prepare themselves ready as vessels for the second coming of Master Jesus because the trumpet could sound any time from now.

How can you describe your 50 years on earth?

Well, I give all glory, adoration and gratitude to God Almighty for giving me the grace and privilege to clock 50 years in the land of the living. Although I’m not yet at my best but in as much as I’m given the grace to live, the best will come and I’m also working towards it.

Like Bishop Benson Idahosa once said, “there is no achievement in life but “receivement”. Even at 50, I do not consider myself as an Achiever. If you consider what I envisaged when I was younger to what is obtainable now, I still need  to sit up, work hard, and draw closer to God, which I believe is God’s ultimate concern for my life. I can reach my life goals just like John in the Bible, he said he sat back and said, “I have finished my course.” So, I belief with God on my side and in my continued pursuit of God, I will surely accomplish and finish my course through God Almighty.

THE HUSBAND OF A BREAD SELLER VERSUS THE HUSBAND OF A MODEL

I  appreciate you all for making my last article on ‘The TY Bello in Us’ go viral. I express heartfelt thanks for your wonderful feedbacks and must let you know that I deeply honour you all.

Even so, events of the last few days have left me with mixed emotions. In as much as I am so excited about the change in fortune of Olajumoke, I have also stepped aside to think through the implications of this new found fame.

As a student of life, one thing I have come to become afraid of is instant stardom. This is because from my knowledge of history especially reading through the Bible, the first man to be an instant adult fell by the way in the third chapter of Genesis (as chronicled by the legendary leader Moses).

I am a family life coach and family is everything to me. I sit in counseling sessions daily and I am amazed at the rate at which marriages fail in this part of the world and the factors responsible for these marital failures. I come out on the strength of this to sound the alarm  before what we never bargained for happens.

The attention seems to have been so much on Jumoke, the model, and I wonder what the plan is for her husband?

For the records, no story has been told of her marital relationship prior her stardom. The  Yoruba speaking Olajumoke who was intellectually compatible with her husband left the house that fateful day. But,  there is a new Jumoke now, one who has become a cynosure and the latest celeb in the nation.

What role would this play in her family life?

May I state here that all the corporate giants that have suddenly rolled out their drums to beat a new dance for Jumoke, the beautiful bride, should also extend the same gestures to her husband so we do not end up with a celeb whose marriage may struggle in days to come.

So here are my suggestions:

- The husband must be made to go through the same level of training Jumoke is exposed to. There is no point giving this man a modern wife when he may remain an ancient man. If Jumoke, the celebrity, is going to be an English speaking one, her husband must also become one.

-  Attach the husband to a Family Life Coach or a Psychologist who can work with him to birth a mentality which matches the new status of his wife. I have seen educated men struggle with a wife who is a corporate success and can only imagine what would happen in a case as this.

- Carefully manage the relationship between Jumoke, her husband and their extended family. This is Africa and we all know the implications.

- Keep Jumoke close to TY Bello or Tara Fela-Durotoye; these are two women who have been able to match corporate success with domestic success. A scandal on our beautiful bride is a news we would not want to hear as all sorts of juicy offers will come her way. It takes a values driven person to resist some of the offers which may come from some quarters that I shall not mention here. Jumoke needs to be this values driven person; she needs to be groomed to be this person.

-Manage and pace this lady so that different platforms who may want to use her story to inspire others do not take advantage of her. If possible, shoot a one-time video which can be played for their audience as against subjecting the girl to a road show that may wear her out.

-  Care should be taken to ensure Jumoke’s innocent friends remain her friends because the friends she may make now may not be true friends. Her fellow breadsellers should be upgraded if possible till she develops a new mindset that can match her new status

I am so happy for our newest model. We must tread with caution withal so that this success story can stand the test of time and give birth to more success.

WE DID NOT RECOVER $1M FROM AMOSU’S SOAK AWAY PIT - EFCC

The EFCC has debunked reports making the
rounds that the anti-graft agency recovered $1m
from Amosu’s Badagry home when it was
searched.
A source disclosed that about $117,000 was
recovered from the home of the ex-NAF boss.
The source added, “There have been reports that
$1m was recovered from a soak away in
Amosu’s Badagry home. This is not true.
“The actual amount recovered was about
$117,000 and it was kept in a safe in the house
and not in a soak away. The money is currently
in our exhibit room. We also recovered N200, 000
in cash from the house.”
Explaining the modus operandi of the suspects,
the EFCC detective explained that the suspects
usually used their wives to carry out the shady
deals.
He said before transferring money, the Air Force
officers would use third parties to set up
companies and bank accounts, to which their
wives would be signatories.
It was learnt that the military officers would then
make phantom transactions and transfer money
into the bank accounts of the companies while
their wives would take possession of the sums.
“Amosu’s wife, Omolara, was arrested when she
came to see her husband in detention. She
cooperated with us and we have also recovered
money from the company. Adigun’s wife, Helen,
also did the same.
“They have both been released,” the source
stated.
About 11 Air Force officers are currently under
investigation by the commission
The source said Adigun had been released by
the EFCC but did not say whether the NAF chief
was released on bail or if he had returned any
money to the anti-graft agency.
However, the spokesman for the EFCC, Mr.
Wilson Uwujaren, was unable to confirm the
recoveries.
“The investigation into the arms scandal is still
ongoing and I am not able to comment on
specific recoveries,” he said.
Amosu and 10 senior officers are being probed
by the EFCC as part of investigations into the
$2.1bn arms scam, especially in relation to the
10 contracts of the NAF, said to be worth
$930,500,690.00.
Last week, the immediate past Chief of Defence
Staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh (retd.), was
detained by the anti-graft agency.
Both Badeh and Amosu are answering questions
on the non-specification of procurement costs,
absence of contract agreements, award of
contracts beyond authorised thresholds, transfer
of public funds for unidentified purposes and
general non-adherence to provisions of the
Public Procurement Act.

NCS Seme Command records revenue drop in January

The Seme Command of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) on Monday said it generated N655.3m as revenue in January.

The spokesman for the command, Selechang Taupyen told newsmen in Seme that the revenue was N743m lower than the 1.4bn generated in December.

“In the month of January, the revenue the command generated was lower than the previous month because of the low volume of activities witnessed due to the strike by Beninoise customs.

“Also, the high exchange rate and the uncompromising resolve of the new leadership to strict adherence to procedures and guidelines contributed to low revenue generated.

“But in all these, command will definitely improve on the revenue collection as we are determined to surpass our monthly target of 1.1 billion,” he said.

Taupyen said the command made 40 seizures in the month under review with a Duty Paid Value (DPV) of N20.5 million.

“The seized items include bags of rice, frozen poultry products, vegetable oil, vehicles amongst others,” he said.

The spokesman urged Nigerians to desist from smuggling and embrace legitimate trade.

“Smuggling is dangerous to the economy, so Nigerians should embrace legitimate trade because it helps to improve the economy, which in turn would benefit everyone,” he said.

SEME BORDER: CUSTOMS CLOSES 2015 WITH GENERATED REVENUE IN EXCESS OF N1.4BILLION FOR DECEMBER

The Seme Area Command of Nigeria Customs Service has once again demonstrated an unprecedented zeal in actualising one out of the tripartite core mandates of the Comptroller General of Customs as contained in the CGC's policy thrust.

The  Command consecutively performed excellently in terms of revenue generation, as the performance indicators for the months of November and December hit the roof.

It will be recalled that the Command exceeded her November,2015 monthly revenue target of N1,021,790,667.33 with 25% excess collection . In the month of December 2015, the skyrocketing revenue profile collected was N1,420,219,873.03 which exceeded the monthly revenue target with N398,429,206.30. This  translated to about 40% excess collection. The December 2015 collection also exceeded the November 2015 collection with N146,984,814.12 which represent an unprecedented figure that has never been recorded since the creation of Seme Area Command. The Command also made 17 seizures with a Duty Paid Value(DPV) of N6,967,260.00 for the month of December 2015.

The Acting Customs Area Controller D/C Sabo , H.A attributed the success story recorded in the command to the determination and commitment demonstrated by officers and men of the Command, in strict adherence to import procedures and guidelines and lifting of restriction on rice importation through the land borders which is processed strictly according to the official bench mark price of $470 per metric tonne.

He reiterated that an outstanding performance of this nature over the years have not taken place in the history of the Command.

The Acting Customs Area Controller use the opportunity to call on the stakeholders, the host community and the mass media to support the service in order to achieve its mandate of revenue generation, suppression of smuggling and facilitation of legitimate trade across the frontier and security at the border.

Customs Collects N903bn Revenue For 2015 – Hameed Ali, CG, CUSTOMS

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS)
collected a total of N903 billion in 2015
out of a target of N954 billion,
comptroller-general of the Service Col.
Hameed Ali Rtd, has said.

Ali who stated this while fielding
questions from journalists after the
decoration of newly promoted senior
officers of the Service in Abuja, noted
that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN)
policy on the importation of 41 items
denied the Customs revenue collection to
the tune of N240 billion in 2015.

The CGC yesterday decorated six newly
promoted Deputy Comptrollers General
and eight Assistant Comptrollers General.
He said, “If we had added that to what
we have generated it would have
surpassed what we have, so that is the
down side of why we were not able to
meet the target in 2015.”

Ali who expressed the hope that the
Service will surpass its target for 2016 in
view of the tools already put in place by
the management, added, “I hope also
that government will once again look at
those policies and see how they can be
fine-tuned.”

As part of efforts to meeting the 2016
target, the CGC said he has gone round
the various Commands where he urged
officers to work harder as well as help
the agency clear the correct the bad
impression the public has about it.

The newly decorated officers include
DCGs Suleiman Ibrahim Idris, Grace
Adeyemo, Dan Ugo, Paul Ukaigwe,
Abubakar Umar and Austen Warikoru.
The ACGs include Sanusi Umar, Aremu
Olatunji, Chidi Augustine, Azarema
Abdulkadir among others.

While congratulating the officers, he
underscored the fact that their promotion
did not come by way of lobby or
compromise but based purely on merit
from available records.

Charging the officers, Ali said, “I expect
nothing less than the best. I expect from
you henceforth hard work, commitment
and drive for the best. My mission in the
NCS is to make it the best of Service not
only within Nigeria but across the
nations.

“My mission is to make sure we clean
ourselves of all the bad impression that
we carry along, my mission is to ensure
that we meet all the mandate set for us
by the government and I believe that all
of you will have no other mission than to
fall in with that and make sure that 2016
is put on the record as one of the best
years of the NCS.”

For the first time, former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has spoken about allegations of approving a $2billion arms procurement contract.

Jonathan queried, “Where did the money come from? “I did not award a contract of $2.2billion for procurement of weapons,” reports Premium Times.

At the forum moderated by USIP Senior Advisor to the US President and member, NDI Board of Directors, Ambassador Johnnie Carson, Jonathan also shared his views on those elections and their significance in the consolidation of democratic progress in Tanzania.
He also discussed the recent political transition in Nigeria, as well as the prospects for improved governance in the country.

Recall that on Tuesday, a presidential investigations committee into arms procurement under the administration of ex-President Jonathan revealed in its interim report that it found extra-budgetary spending by the Jonathan administration to the tune of N643.8 billion and an additional $2.2 billion in the foreign currency component, all managed and supervised by ex-National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd).

But in a swift reaction, Dasuki had said in a statement Wednesday, said that all contracts and accruing payments were made based on the approval of ex-President Jonathan, adding that due process and military procurement regulations were followed in all the transactions.

Dasuki said: “Nigerians should note that all the services generated the types of equipment needed, sourced suppliers most times and after consideration by the Office of the NSA, the President will approve application for payment.”

But Mr. Jonathan said he never awarded any $2billion arms contract, suggesting that the claims by the Buhari administration were false and unsubstantiated. Mr. Dasuki had also argued along that line.

Mr. Jonathan touched on the contract issue after he stated that he was aware of allegations of huge sums of money that were said to be missing from the Nigerian treasury, but he claimed that some of the figures mentioned are not believable. “Sometimes, I feel sad when people mention these figures,” he added.

Speaking pointedly about his successor, President Jonathan said, “When the President (Buhari) paid official visit to the US, there were some figures that were mentioned that I don’t believe.”

He drew attention to figures like the $150billion alleged to have been stolen in previous Nigerian administrations, but Mr. Jonathan scoffed at the probability of “$150 billion American money” being missing and “Americans will not know where it is,” adding that at any rate President Buhari did not accuse his administration.

“He didn’t say my government, he said previous administrations… “$150 billion is not 150 billion Naira,” he stated, suggesting that “People play politics with very serious issues.”

The former president was equally dismissive of people who alleged that the sum of $59.8 million was misappropriated within a 12-month period while he was in office.

“In Nigeria, if you lose $59.8 million in a year, federal and state governments will not pay salaries,” he said, adding that there is no way Nigerian budget can accommodate such a loss without the country coming to a standstill.

“Of course we brought international audit teams, forensic auditors and they didn’t see that,” he said.

The former President said he does not want to join issues with the new government, “I wanted to keep away from the public for at least twelve months.”

Falae: We won’t refund any money to anybody

Olu Falae, national chairman of the Social
Democratic Party (SDP), says he and his party
are not returning any money to anybody.
Falae, who was earlier accused of collecting
N100 million from Sambo Dasuki, former national
security adviser (NSA), admitted that he
collected the money, but from Tony Anenih of
the PDP and not Dasuki.

Speaking through Abdul Isaiq, the SDP national
publicity secretary, Falae insisted that his party
did not get a dime from the arms fund, but from
the PDP for electoral alliance.

“In terms of refund of money, I want to say here
that those people who are refunding money are
those who got their money directly from the
arms deal fund,” he said.

“Our fund did not come from the arms deal; our
fund came from an electoral alliance with the
PDP and we knew that the PDP had a
fundraising committee that gathered billions of
naira and PDP had been in government for 16
years.

“So, with that, we knew that the PDP had the
capacity to fund the alliance that was formed
with them by the SDP. You don’t postulate what
you don’t have on the ground, you can’t build on
a non-foundation.

“We, as a political party, knew that the PDP was
a capable hand in the electoral alliance which
we entered with them. And we equally knew that
the PDP had a fundraising, where it generated

The party said it was left for Anenih to explain
how he got the money given to them and not for
them to refund anything of such.
“So, whether the money came from Col. Sambo
Dasuki or his office is what we don’t know and it
is left for them to ask Chief Tony Anenih to
explain.

“We knew that the PDP had been ruling Nigeria
for 16 years. So, this was the basis of our
electoral alliance with them.

“We can’t refund any money to anybody because
the money we got as a party came because of
the alliance we had with the PDP and we have
the agreement note from this alliance.

“If it is possible that the money Chief Anenih
gave us was from the arms deal, it is left for
them to ask Chief Anenih to clarify. As far as we
knew, we did not have any dealing with Dasuki.

“Our office did not ever have anything to do with
the office or person of the National Security
Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki.”

"THE CBN GOVERNOR SHOULD NOT CONTINUE IN OFFICE WHILE DASUKI IS UNDER PROBE" TUNDE BAKARE

“Tunde Bakare, the serving overseer of Latter
Rain Assembly, has warned governors not to
“provoke the rage” of poorly paid workers by
reducing the minimum wage.

Many states have been saying they can no longer
afford to pay the N18,000 minimum wage
because of dwindling revenue.
But Bakare said politicians should instead reduce
their own salaries.

Bakare also accused CBN of contributing
negatively to the Nigerian economy in more ways
than one.
In his state-of-the nation address titled
‘Roadmap to successful change’, the pastor
outlined eight major steps that Nigeria must take
to execute the change the nation voted for.

Quoting Polybius, a Greek historian, Bakare said:
“Those who know how to win are much more
numerous than those who know how to make
proper use of their victories”, advising President
Muhammadu Buhari and the Nigerian people on
the way forward.
The summary of our assessment of the entire
framework of governance and public policy is
that without restructuring, this administration
may achieve little or no significant and
sustainable success,” he said.

“The government must examine carefully, the
argument of economists that sound monetary
policy including proper management of the
exchange rate regime by the CBN would
eliminate the need for subsidies.

“The intricate connection between monetary
policy on the one hand and the fuel subsidy
debate on the other, makes the management of
the CBN a major concern.

“To the discerning, the CBN currently contributes
negatively to the Nigerian state in more ways
than one. Firstly, the CBN has become a conduit
for politicians to drain the nation.

“Otherwise, how can a letter of barely two
paragraphs addressed to the current CBN
Governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, by the then
National Security Adviser (NSA), Col. Sambo
Dasuki (rtd.), become the Authority to Incur
Expenditure (AIE) leading to cash flow of $47
million (US dollars) and several millions of euros?
“In decent climes, the CBN Governor cannot
continue in office while the NSA is accounting
for his alleged misdeeds.”

CBN IRREGULARITIES AND FOREX POLICY
He alleged that the CBN is promoting corruption
by removing a section that controls currency
minting by the CBN decree of 1991.

“Secondly, another negative contribution by the
CBN is the needless obscurity it has created
regarding currency in circulation. It was not so in
the past. For instance, S. 43 (2) of the CBN
Decree (now Act) No. 24 of 1991

stipulates: Without prejudice to the provision of
S1 of this section, the President may direct the
Auditor General of the Federation to conduct an
examination of the Bank, and submit a report
thereon relating to the issue, re-issue, exchange
and withdrawal of currency notes and coins by
the Bank and the Bank shall provide all
necessary facilities for the purpose of the
examination.

“This vital sub-section was completely removed
in the current CBN Act 2007, thereby making it
possible for the CBN to decide the printing of
the Nigerian currency, amounts to be printed,
currencies to be destroyed (of which the CBN
staff can take as much of such dirty notes as
they like and inject back into the system while
keeping all of us in the dark) without any check
and balances stipulated in S. 43 (2) of the
previous CBN Act No. 24 of 1991.

“The CBN is not a privately controlled banking
agency…the wealth of the Central Bank of
Nigeria belongs to the people of Nigeria, not the
governor or the staff of the CBN. Our foreign
reserves could be used to drive infrastructural
development with a view to building a strong
local industrial base.

“It is important to add, that rather than mere
devaluation of the naira, a strong local
productive base, that widens Nigeria’s foreign
exchange window is a lasting solution to the
lingering currency crisis.”
